In the final paragraph of the Llano County Commissioners Court story in the May 14 issue of The Llano News, two quotes were incorrectly attributed.
It was long-time Precinct 3 Commissioner Duane Stueven, who was in a position to observe closely problems that developed in his district when the sharing of equipment and manpower between Kingsland Water Supply and Kingsland Municipal Utility District were not carefully documented, who called for clarifications in an interlocal agreement for similar sharing between Llano County and the City of Llano. It was he who noted how easily assumptions could be made in the field.
It is County Judge Wayne Brascom who has repeatedly noted that, as the county grows and changes, it will be important not to base future action on “the way things always have been” and who supported, but agreed to refine, the interlocal agreement for court action.
The following is correct:
Stueven drew some support for an argument that the proposal was too broad and did not allow for estimates of the value of services that are limited by law. He said also that similar agreements should be extended to Horseshoe Bay and Sunrise Beach if one would be offered to Llano.
“I have been dealing with the City of Llano for 12 years,” said Stueven. “They went out the other day and were going to load a skid loader without even asking anyone.
“I’m still burning from being sued by the city (over the Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center site). It cost the county $40,000,” added Stueven.
