The old timers at the Llano River Golf Course remember when there was a tournament on the first weekend of June coinciding with the Llano Rodeo.

It’s been a while, but it’s back.

Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8 marks the First Annual Llano River Blowout, a two-man low ball tournament.

The tournament will pay cash prizes to the first four places in each flight, with teams being flighted according to handicaps, which must be provided by the players.

An entry fee of $300 per team includes a Cooper’s Barbecue meal served Saturday. Friday will feature a player’s get-together at Blue Duck’s Ice House featuring a shrimp boil sponsored by Llaneaux Seafood House.

There will be a practice round Friday and lunch will be offered at the golf course each day of the event.

Sponsors for the event include Steve’s Liquor, Raymond James and Associates, Arrowhead Bank, Llano National Bank and First State Bank. Any proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Llano Food Pantry.

Other activities include a closest to the pin contest Friday at 5 p.m. The winner will receive a Titleist golf bag. There will also be a raffle at Friday’s get-together for a Titleist driver. Mulligans will be offered for $20, which will buy one per player per day.
