LCRA announces a diverse group of stakeholders to serve on its Water Conservation Task Force, which will provide input on actions to guide LCRA’s long-term efforts for water conservation.

Task force members represent water users in the lower Colorado River basin, including LCRA water customers, lakeside business interests, developers and builders, environmental interests, irrigation and landscapes businesses, and regional water planners.

Over the next six months, task force members will focus on:

• developing a list of conservation measures to consider for implementation;

• developing screening criteria to prioritize measures for implementation; and

• reviewing draft recommendations for a state-required conservation plan.

“Our region can achieve real water savings through conservation with input and collaboration from our customers and stakeholders. I look forward to beginning this effort and working with the task force,” said Nora Mullarkey, head of LCRA’s water use and conservation.

Following input from task force members, LCRA staff and consultants will perform analysis of the cost and feasibility of the identified conservation measures that will be included in a report to the LCRA Board of Directors later this year.

Information about the ongoing efforts of the task force is available on the LCRA Web site at www.lcra.org/savewater.
