The Valley Spring TEEA Club met on May 21, at the American Legion Hall for their regular monthly meeting.

In the absence of Club President Linnie Osbourn, Vice President Vera Honig called the meeting to order with everyone repeating the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the TEEA prayer.

Nine members answered roll call by telling what type of stitchery they admire and enjoy. Some of the members brought items to show and told the story or history connected to these items. Some items were handed down from great-grandparents, grandparents and parents, it was very interesting to hear where they came from.

It was reported that Linnie Osbourn, club president, received an award for outstanding club service in the VS club. The Valley Spring Club also received an award for 60 years in extension service. (These awards were presented at the District TEEA meeting in Llano.)

The 60th year award will hang in the Valley Spring Community Building where Valley Spring’s first meeting was held.

Suggestions for club choice of programs were discussed and will be turned in to the TEEA office by June 30, so some may be put in the new year book for 2008-2009 club activities.

It was reported that if anyone could help with the concession stand at the Llano rodeo, please contact agent Hale by June 1. Coins for friendship were collected and will be turned into extension office by June 1.

Our next meeting will be at The Badu House on June 18 at 11:15 for lunch and an enjoyable time.

Vera Honig was selected as the Valley Spring Club delegate for the State TEEA meeting to be held in Corpus Christi, Sept. 9-11. Her name will be submitted to the council.

The committee reported new officers for the 2008-2009 year will be, President Betty Branham, Vice President Vera Honig, Secretary Martha Long, Treasurer Iva Grell and Reporter Verna Osbourn. Refreshment were served by Hostess Vera Honig.
