The 73rd Annual Llano County Rodeo Parade, sponsored by the Llano Chamber of Commerce will be held Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m.
The route will progress down Ford Street, turn onto West Main and around the Courthouse Square. Additional sponsors include Rusche Oil Company – Texaco, Town & Country, and Ratliff Chevrolet and Ford.
This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Leland Kiker, who was awarded the 2008 Cowboy of the Year by the Hill Country Livestock Raisers Association. The dignitaries of the parade include Terry Wootan – Llano Chamber of Commerce 2007 Citizen of the Year, and John Kuykendall – Llano Chamber of Commerce 2007 Hall of Fame inductee.
Mayor of Llano, Roger Pinckney, City Manager, Finley de Graffenried, and the Llano City Council will have a special float.
Past year parades have had 75 participants. Entries for 2008 include - horseback flag bearers headed up by Jay Tedder, Lampasas Spring Ho Festival, 2007-2008 Miss Comfort and her Royal Court, Highland Lakes Honor Guard, Llano Junior High Cheerleaders, Llano High School Cheerleaders, Llano High School Band, Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers, Llano Church of God of Prophecy, Gillespie County Fair & Festivals, Royce Johanson’s Percheron Draft Horse & Carriage, District Attorney Victim Services, Blanco County Fair & Rodeo Assn., llanotravel.com with Harold Castleman & his 1965 Mustang Convertible.
KiTY Radio Announcer, Ray Webb, will be at the corner of Ford Street by Llano National Bank. The Llano Chamber of Commerce announcer will be at the Courthouse Square.
Rodeo Parade Applications may be picked up at the Llano Chamber of Commerce at 700 Bessemer Avenue. Entry deadline is at noon Tuesday, June 3.
Horses, wagons, carriages, floats, trucks, cars, marching groups, tractors, golf carts, and any other entries are invited to participate. If you have questions or need more information, please give us a call at the Llano Chamber Office at (325) 247-5354.
Plan to attend the Boy Scout Barbecue beginning after the parade on the Courthouse Square (Main Street and Hwy 16/Ford Street). Scout members will be on the Square selling tickets $7 ea. For Pre-sale tickets $6 ea. contact Dare Weihs (325) 247-3334. Bring a folding chair as there will be no tables and chairs set up.
The 73rd Annual Llano County Rodeo will be Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. with the “Cross Country Band” at the dance afterwards Saturday night. The Llano County Rodeo is located west of Llano on Ranch Road 152.
The Friday night dance is at Blue Ducks Icehouse. Pre-sale tickets for the rodeo are available at the Chamber office ($8 for adult, $4 for kids 6-12) or at the Gate ($10 for adult, $5 for kids 6-12), kids under 6 get in free.
