Llano traffic accidents continued to be few following a quiet Memorial Day weekend with just two accidents reported in the last week.

Two motorcyclists were airlifted with non-life-threatening accidents to Austin’s Brackenridge Hospital Friday afternoon.

Robert Hart, Jr., 43, of Sunset, laid his bike down after coming over a hill on SH 16 north of Llano and discovering that a trailer turning into CR 413 had not cleared the roadway.

Department of Public Safety Trooper J.R. Long said a full size vehicle might have been able to see the truck and trailer before topping the hill, but it apparently was not visible to the motorcyclist.

Both Hart and his passenger, Hillary Bratcher, 24, of Bowie, suffered road rash. Hart likely had broken ribs and a bruised lung, according to the officer.

A quantity of marijuana was confiscated and a citation was issued to the passenger.

About noon on Friday, Trooper Long responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on SH 71 East near CR 304.

A 1992 Volvo 740 GL driven by Sharon Smith, 50, of Kingsland, left the road on the right-hand side, was overcorrected, crossed the highway and rolled twice, said Long’s report.

Smith’s seatbelt broke at the buckle and her injuries required overnight hospitalization at Llano Memorial, he said.
