The Llano News has learned that Llano High School head baseball coach, Chad Krempin, has been offered the same position at San Angelo Central, a Class-5A school. He has not yet decided if he will take the job.
Krempin, a graduate of Burnet High, has been in Llano the last two years. The Jackets were bidistrict champions in 2007, won that title again this spring and also captured the area title.
This was Krempin's sixth year, overall, as a head coach. He was at Jarrell for three years and led the Cougars to the 2A state championship game in 2004. He was at Lampasas in '06, and the Badgers made the playoffs for the first time in two decades.
Friends of coach Krempin have said one of his goals is to be at a 5A school. San Angelo Central has more than 3,000 students; that's close to six times the size of Llano.
He will probably make his final decision in the next few days. If he leaves, athletic director David Yeager will go from leading a committee which has been looking for a girls' baskeball coach to one seeking a baseball coach. It's possible, of course, Yeager will chair both groups if a successor for Brandon Walters is not found soon.
