Victoria-Larry “L.D.” Daffern Maxwell, 73, of Victoria, passed away Monday, May 26, in Victoria. He was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Llano County to Loraine Francis Daffern and Jack Larrimore Maxwell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gilbert Cliffton Maxwell; and his brother, Thomas Larrimore Maxwell.

L.D. is survived by his wife, Ruth Blaschke Maxwell, of Victoria; his daughters, Kathy Hooker, of San Antonio, Debra Maxwell, of Victoria; his step-daughters, Sandra (Mike) Brzozowske, Susan (Randy) Prichard and Sharon (Russell) Stevens, all of Victoria; his sons, Larry Clayton (Susie) Maxwell, of Victoria, Jason Larrimore (Katheryn) Maxwell, of Houston; his sister Jackie Thompson, of Missouri; his brother, Dale Cecil Maxwell, of Plainview; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was retired from DuPont as an operator.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home. The rosary immediately followed at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Ty Bazar and the Rev. Larry Green officiating.

Graveside Funeral Services were at 1 p.m., Friday, May 30, at Bluffton cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eric Musselwhite, Joshua Prichard, and Dan Sessom.

Honorary Pallbearers were Charles and Laura Boan, Joseph Brozozowske, and Cody Maxwell.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
