Another annual Llano Rodeo Parade has successfully made its way through the streets of Llano and around the courthouse square.
The 73rd Annual Rodeo Parade on June 7 was sponsored by the Llano Chamber of Commerce, Ratliff Chevrolet and Ford, Rusche Oil Company-Texaco, and Town & Country.
Llano Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors/Rodeo Parade Chairman Jean Mueller would like to thank all the participants and everyone who came out to watch this year’s parade: Josh Rode– LC of C Board of Directors, and all the directors amd advisors on the Rodeo Parade Committee.
Also Assistant Rodeo Parade Chairmen–Mitchell Liesmann and Charles Wendt, the two Parade Announcers–KiTY Radio’s Ray Webb (by the Llano National Bank) and Eric Schuessler (Courthouse Square), and the six judges from Llano, Mason, and La Grange.
2008 Rodeo Parade Winners:
Best Overall Parade Winner went to the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association of Fredericksburg.
Floats (Non-Commercial): first place was awarded to the Little Miss Sparkle and Rock’n Riverfest of Llano; second place was awared to Lampasas Spring Ho Festival; and thrid place was awarded to Gillespie County Farm Bureau of Fredericksburg.
Floats (Commercial): first place was awarded to Care Inn of Llano; second place was awarded to Llano National Bank; and third place was awared to Lone Star Children’s Center of Llano.
Cars/Trucks/ Tractors (Non-Commercial): first place was awarded to the Daughters & Sons of the American Revolution Car and period costumes of Buchanan Dam; second place was awarded to Llano Baseball Team Sponsored by Llano VFD; and third place was awarded to the Llano Volunteer Fire Department Fire Truck.
Cars/Trucks/Tractors (Commercial): first place was awarded to Llano Tire & Auto 1929 Chevy Pickup; second place was awarded to Chuck Bailey & Boston Terrier Dog “Shotgun” with the Gypsy Motorcycle Club of Llano; and third place was awarded to Chicken Bones 1942 Farmall Tractor of Llano.
Marching Groups/Other: first place was awarded to the Llano High School Band Percussion Line and Colorguard; second place was awarded to the Llano High School Cheerleaders; and third place was awarded to the Llano Junior High Cheerleaders.
Horses (Group): first place was awarded to the Horse Mountain Rough Riders of Llano; second place was awarded to the Dos Amigas of Llano; and thrid place was awarded to Steele Kenney (age 3) and mother, Kippi Kenney of Llano.
Horses (Individual): first place was awarded to Jordan Reed of Llano; second place was awarded to Reagan Roberts of Llano; and third place was awarded to Colter Hutchings of Bluffton.
Parade Dignitaries: (The trucks were provided by Ratliff Chevrolet and Ratliff Ford) Grand Marshal was Leland Kiker, Citizen of the Year was Terry Wootan (driven by Taylor Virdell in his 1923 Ford Model T), Hall of Fame was John Kuykendall.
The Mounted Flag Bearers, which included nine riders and horses was headed up by Jay Tedder.
There was a special appearance by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard, headed up by Charlie Taylor.
The Llano Rodeo and Parade are always the first Friday and Saturday of June.
