The Llano Jacket Summer League Baseball team is off and running in the American Legion Division 4 League.

The Jackets are 2-0 in league play defeating Ingram 15 to 7 and Fredericksburg 6 to 1. They are 4-0 for the summer, also defeating Burnet 14 to 9 and Fredericksburg 9-1.

The Jackets will bring back Ty Compton on the mound in the 2009 season. Ty pitched the league game against Fredericksburg earning 12 strike outs. The Jackets played solid defense allowing only four batters to see the plate in the first and second innings, then allowing three up and three down in the remaining 5 innings.

Trey Brooks pitched a complete game for the second game of the double header after not seeing the mound in two years.

Logan Davis will also be returning for the 2009 season. Davis pitched the first three innings against Ingram racking up six strike outs. Jordan Ashabranner, Taylor Osbourn and Ty Compton also saw action on the mound against Ingram.

Preston Rabb, sophmore for 2009, was impressive on the mound against Burnet going seven innings for the Jackets.

Freshman Clay Tarter has stepped up at the catching position throwing a runner out at second to end the game against Burnet.

The summer leagues are carrying big sticks preparing for the new 2009 redistricting alignment. The Jackets have earned 44 runs in only 4 games.

Logan Davis excited the crowd against Ingram with an inside the park grand slam homerun! Taylor Osbourn had three singles, one double and a triple against the Warriors. Trey Brooks earned four runs in his five at bats.

Travis Ramos earned a double and triple while Mike Rusche drove in two runs on a right field single against Burnet. Dustin Jordan had two runs and two RBIs, and Charlie Durham had two runs against the Bulldogs.

Against the Billies, Reagan Friedrich had a single, double and earned an RBI. Preston Rabb had two RBIs, while Ty Compton had three runs and an RBI.

The Jackets will play again in Llano, June 30 at 7 p.m. against Fredericksburg. The Jackets will play Bandera at 7 p.m. July 1, in Llano and Kerrville July, 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Llano. Come out and enjoy a pork burger while supporting Jacket baseball.
