In 2007, Llano Elementary student Erich Burch created a work of art in Mrs. Myrick’s Summer Art program.
He pressed a mold he made into three pieces of clay and made three tiles.
Erich had the idea to send one to the President, keep one for himself and give the other to Mrs. Myrick, but before he could all this summer school ended.
Mrs. Myrick assured Erich that the tiles would be glazed and his special gift would get to the White House.
Keeping her promise, Mrs. Myrick sent the tile to the White House during the 2007-2008 school year.
Soon afterward, a large brown envelope with a return address of The White House, Washington D.C. came addressed to Mrs. Myrick at Llano Elementary School.
Inside was a wonderful picture of President Bush’s dog and a very direct and personal letter from President Bush, to express his appreication and thanks to Mrs. Myrick’s art class and the talented student in Llano I.S.D.
Erich’s tile was done with the President’s black dog in the foreground and the White House in the backgroud.
