Sierra Lenz, a 17-year-old entering senior at Burnet High School was crowned Miss Aqua Boom 2008 at the pageant held June 21 at the Kingsland Community Center.
The reigning queen of the 39th annual Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce Independence Day Celebration is the daughter of Rhonda Pack. She was crowned by Miss Aqua Boom 2007 Krystal Horrigan, of Burnet and received a $3,500 scholarship from the chamber’s Miss Aqua Boom Scholarship Committee.
Halley Davis was crowned 2008 Miss Teen Aqua Boom by Princess of the 2007 court Mariah Marion, of Kingsland. The 12-year-old who is a Llano Junior High seventh grader, is the daughter of Lynette and Jack Davis, of Buchanan Dam.
Five local teens vied for the title of Miss Aqua Boom, including Teffany Levinston, of Llano, Regan Opel, of Kingsland, Shaylyn Parker, of Burnet and MacKenzie Tarter, of Marble Falls.
Parker, 15, daughter of Beth and Dick Parker, was first runner-up and Regan Opel, 15, daughter of Glenn and Sallie Opel, was second runner-up and Miss Photogenic.
Tarter,16, the daughter of Laura DeSpain, was voted Miss Congeniality.
The nine contestants for Miss Teen Aqua Boom were Savannah Arteaga, of Kingsland, Teresa Bennett, of Burnet, Haley Davis, of Llano, Nia Gibson, of Marble Falls, Bayley Hutson, Meghan Johnson, Britanie Morris, of Kingsland, Taylor Morris, and JoAnna Piatek, of Marble Falls.
First runner-up and Miss Photogenic was Arteaga, 12, the daughter of Shana Levinston. Second runner-up was Piatek, 12, the daughter of Dee Ann Piatek.
Britanie Morris, 13, daughter of Chrissy and Lee Morris, was voted Miss Congeniality.
Pageants also were held in three other age groups, Young Miss, Little Miss and Tiny Miss Aqua Boom.
Young Miss Aqua Boom 2008 is Harlie Maddox, 11, the daughter of Tammy and Berry Maddox, of Inks Lake. The 11-year-old will be a sixth grader at Burnet Middle School.
First runner-up was Kennedy Chaney, 11, daughter of Rex and Tara Chaney, of Kingsland. Second runner-up was another Llano County girl, Bailey Pippenger, the 11-year-old daughter of Sandy Slentz and Tony Pippenger.
Miss Photogenic was Alissa Rudd, of Kingsland. The 10-year-old is the daughter of Anthony Rudd and granddaughter of Sharon Smith.
2008 Little Miss Aqua Boom is Leyah Wilson, 6, who attends Packsaddle Elementary School in Kingsland. She is the daughter of Josh and Pamela Wilson.
First runner-up was Camryn Jenkins, 8, daughter of Laura and Steve Jenkins, of Marble Falls.
Two Kingsland girls tied for second runner-up. They were Olivia Schwab, 8, daughter of Sara Schwab, and Amber Dyess, 8, daughter of Don and Sonya Dyess.
Miss Photogenic was Sydney Potts, 8, daughter of Krispen Smith, of Burnet.
2008 Tiny Miss Aqua Boom and Miss Photogenic was Allison Kirksey, 4, daughter of Brandie and Paul Kirksey, of Sunrise Beach.
First runner-up was Jacey Huston, 5, daughter of Amanda Huston, of Kingsland.
Three girls tied for second runner-up. They were Kyley Wilhite, 5, daughter of Adam and Jennifer Wilhite, of Kingsland, and two Burnet girls, Sydney Maddox, 5, daughter of Tammy and Berry Maddox, and Mariah Canchola, 5, daughter of Angela Stedman.
Mistress of Ceremonies was Billye Fietz, of Horseshoe Bay. Miss Aqua Boom 1985, Sandra Lueck, of Burnet was the pageant coordinator and she was joined by pageant chairs and former pageant participants Monica Cloud, of Kingsland and Jo Carol Thornblom, of Highland Haven.
Contributors to the pageant’s scholarship fund include Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lacallade, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Waters, Dan Kasparek, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Martin K. Simmons, the Lambda Nu Chapter-ESA, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Martin, Preceptor Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Franklin Bank-Kingsland, Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce.
Windchime Assisted Living provided the crowns and trophies for the pageant and more than a dozen local businesses contributed to the pageant.
