The Llano Jackets summer baseball team took first place in the third annual Llano Extreme Classic, June 28.

Llano went 3 and 0 to defeat Burnet, Ingram, and Abilene.

In the first game, freshman Clay Tarter pitched all five innings to defeat Burnet 16-0. Tarter allowed only one hit and racked up nine strike outs to get the win.

The Jackets defense was solid allowing only 18 at bats. All Jackets saw action on the bases and scored at least one run. Seven runs came in the first inning, one in the second, four in the third and four in the fourth.

The Jackets defeated Ingram 9-4 in the second game. The district foe has improved drastically over the summer. The Jackets led the whole game which was started off by a triple to left field from Trey Brooks, a triple by Taylor Osbourn and a two run homerun over deep left by Reagan Friedrich.

Ty Compton scored on a single to left to round out the first. In the second, Brooks earned an RBI scoring Michael Rusche, who had reached base on balls.

Tarter scored in the third, and Friedrich scored in the fourth. Charlie Durham and Raven Herron scored in the fifth on a deep single to right by Tyler Myer.

In the championship game, the Jackets defeated a solid team from Abilene. Brooks scored in the first after being hit and the other two runs came in the bottom of the sixth when Charlie Durham hit a single over third to score Tarter, who had reached on balls.

Then Tyler Myer scored Osbourn and Durham on a double to left field to put the Jackets ahead by two. The Jackets held the lead in the top of the seventh allowing one run but shutting them down to set the win.

The Jackets pitched senior ace, Ty Compton, who got the win allowing two runs in the third and the one in the seventh.

Solid defense was played by all the Jackets to help get the win! The boys are having fun and are looking forward to meeting Coach Harman and are excited about what the future holds for Jacket baseball.

Their next three games were in Llano, Monday, June 30 as they continue American Legion Play against Fredericksburg at 7, then Tuesday, July 1, they will play against Bandera at 7:30, and Wednesday, July 2, they will play against Kerrville at 7:30. The Jackets lead the American Legion League 4-1.
