Mary Lee Kothmann Thomas, passed away on June 22, in Houston. Born on Sept. 22, 1932, in Frio County, Mary Lee was the second of six children born to Evelyn and Ryland Kothmann.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lee Gary; her brother, R.B. Kothmann; and her parents.

Mary Lee is survived by her loving husband Horace F. Thomas; her daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Bo Howard and Sandra and Rich Cordova; her grandchildren Zach and Ben Howard, and Kathryn and Caroline Cordova; and her great-grandchild, Bella James Marquez. She is also survived by her brother Billy Kothmann and sister-in-law Marsha; her sisters Nonie Stringer, Barbara Pluenneke and brother-in-law Charles, and Sue Carol McKnight and brother-in-law John. Also surviving are Mary Lee’s stepdaughters Cindy Thomas, Lori Thomas, Bonnie Faltin and husband, Steve, and their son Spencer; her stepson Kenneth Thomas and wife, Vicki, and their sons Kyle, Jess and Scott; her daughters’ father, Tudor Gary, his wife, Mary; and many other relatives, dear ones and friends.

She grew up in Mason in the Texas Hill Country. Mary Lee graduated from Mason High School and Sul Ross University. She lived and taught school in Crystal City. In her later years she moved to Houston, Texas where she remained active in the community. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Mary Lee’s family would like to thank her caregivers Teresa Flores and Adelina Ayala for their kind and committed service.

The family received friends on Thursday, June 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home, 204 Post Oak Street, Mason, Texas 76856.

The funeral service was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Hilda Methodist Church, W Hwy 87 on FM 783, Hilda.
