J. Pete Stewart, 79, passed away on July 11, in Llano. He was a native of Shawnee, Okla. born to John H. and Myrtle Mae Brown Stewart.

Mr. Stewart is survived my his wife, Izora, of Tow; his daughters, Shirley Mae Petty, of Navarre, Fla., and Virginia Lee White, of Heavener, Okla.; his sisters, Alice Malero, of Dallas, and Pat Evans, of Rockwall; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four nieces and nephews.

He worked as a machinist with the Texas Highway Department for many years. Mr. Stewart was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He married Izora Poindexter on Oct. 1, 1955. He attended the Tow Baptist Church and was a member of the Scottish Rite and a 32 Degree Mason.

Visitations were held at the Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., July 15. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 10 a.m. at Senterfitt Cemetery in Lometa.
