Longina P. “Kina” Martinez, 84, of Kingsland, passed away, January 20, 2012. She was born to Manuel and Willie McGrow Perez on May 15, 1927 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on the King Ranch and that is how she got the name Kina.
She was a homemaker most of her life. She had resided in the area since 1969. In earlier times she and her late husband, Abram Perez Martinez worked at Highland Lakes Banks for 12 years in the maintenance and custodial departments. Kina was an avid quilter, cooker, bingo player, enjoy garage sales, making tamales and liked animals.
Mrs. Martinez is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Linda Martinez, of Kingsland, Texas, son, Arturo Salas of Robstown, Texas and daughter, Mary Moen, of Kingsland, Texas, step-children, Abran Martinez, Jr., of Waco, Texas, Manuela Rodriquez, Esmeralda Renteria. Eloisa Esparza, Dolores Sanchez, Victor Martinez all of Odessa, Texas, Lupe Degman, of Boston, Massachusetts, Angelita Mitchell of Tyler, Texas, Pedro Martinez and Joe Luis Martinez, of Kingsland, Texas, fifty four grandchildren, sixty nine great grandchildren and forty great-great grandchildren also survive.
Visitations were held at Putnam Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services were held at 10:00am, January 23, 2012 at the Calvary Hill Church 136 Real Street, Kingsland, Texas with Pastor Zane Lewis officiating.
