Naoma Lucille Welch, 88, of Kingsland, passed away January 16, 2012. She was born to James Richard and Cloa (Davis) Branscum on April 1, 1923 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Naoma married John Bailey Welch, Jr. on November 23, 1939 in Lovington, New Mexico and he precedes her in death. She was an Air Force wife who loved to entertain and socialize. She loved Colorado history and loved to tell stories adding had a hint of embellishment to make them better. She was an avid golfer and once made a hole in one. She loved to cook, write poetry, and was an accomplished artist.

She is survived by her children, Brenda and husband Dr. Richard Glissmeyer, Salt Lake City, Utah, Tona Simnacher, Kingsland, Texas, John B. Welch and wife Cindy, of Austin, Texas, Brent Welch, of Kingsland, Texas, grandchildren, Casey Dinsmore, of Chino, California, Sean Dinsmore, of Portland, Oregon, Shirley Robinson and husband Wayne, of Lubbock, Texas, Elizabeth Welch, of Detroit, Michigan great-grandchildren, Vinnie Simnacher, of Ganada, Texas, John Thomas McGee, of Lubbock, Texas, Brandon Simnacher, of Oregon, Annie Simnacher, of Ganada, Texas, and sister, Shirley Johnson, of Kingsland, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, Howard J. Branscum, Jack D. Branscum, Douglas G. Branscum, Vernon R. Branscum, sisters, Opal L. Dell, and Catherine Stella Branscum.

A visitation was held 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Tuesday January 17, 2012 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Funeral serviceswere held 2:00 pm Wednesday January 18, 2012 at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel in Kingsland with Reverend Jeff Davis officiating.
