Karen Maureen Collins and Leonard Lee Oliver, Jr., wish to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
Karen is the daughter of Capt. John P. Collins, Jr. of the U.S. Navy, retired, and Mrs. Rosemary Collins, of Silver Spring, Md. She is the granddaughter of the late John P. and Marie Collins Sr., and Elizabeth Miedwig and the late John Miedwig.
Karen is a 1997 graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, Md., and a 2000 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, with a B.S. in Behavior, Ecology, Evolution and Systematics.
Leonard is the son of Atty. and Mrs. Leonard Lee Oliver, Sr., of Brady. He is the grandson of the late Ernest Lee and Leatha May Mitchell Oliver, of Cherokee and the late Roy Maxwell, Jr. of Elm Grove, and the late Kathleen Huson Maxwell, of San Antonio.
He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1997, and from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Biology in 2001. Leonard will graduate from Texas State University in San Marcos in December with a Masters in Aquatic Resources.
Karen and Leonard met in the Philippines while serving in the Peace Corps from 2003 through 2005. Karen lives in Ingram and is employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Biology Tech. and Leonard lives in San Antonio and is employed by the Texas Commisssion on Environmental Quality in Austin.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 25, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Chu
