Frances Eudora Gary, 82, of Llano, passed away, July 21. She was born to William H. Roberts, Sr. and Jessica Beatrice Oliphant on Feb. 28, 1926, in Claflin, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; her sister, Jessica Maurine Roberts; and her brother, William H. Roberts.
Mrs. Gary is survived by her son, Eddie Gary and wife, Rebbecca Lynn, of Deer Park; her daughter, Maurine Gary, of Kingsland; her grandchildren, Melanie Reyna and husband, Jorge, of Houston; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Edward Reyna and Julianna Lynn Reyna; her sister-in-law, Rowena Roberts, of Fort Worth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate from Southwest Texas Teachers State College and received her masters degree from Texas A&I college in Kingsville. She married Charles Edward Gary, Sr. on Dec. 21, 1945, in Brady. Mrs. Gary was instrumental in establishing the Bishop and Kingsville newspapers and hosted great parties and was an avid story teller. She was a member of the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bishop.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Grady Roe officiating. Private interment will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. An online register book can be signed at www.putnamfunerals.com.
