A ceremony will be held Saturday afternoon, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Kimble County Park at Lake Junction to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Confederate Reunion of the Mountain Remnant Brigade held in Junction in 1908.
The program will be conducted by the Frontier Guards Camp of Confederate Veterans and the Mary Harlow Griffith Chapter of the Confederate Rose.
A feature of the ceremony will be a condensed version of the original M. E. Blackburn speech given by his grandson, Marvin Snodgrass of Junction.
The program will end with a black powder musket salute given by reenactors and the playing of Taps.
Main Street will be the scene of a parade at 10 a.m. that will precede the ceremony.
There is no fee for either event, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
