The Llano Alliance for Drug Intervention (L.A.D.I.) is hosting the “Eyes Wide Shut” program on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Llano High School Auditorium.

This program was started six years ago by Officer Allen Brown in San Saba as a way to inform the general public about illegal narcotics. The program has two parts and several goals.

The first part of the program consists of educating the public about the dangers facing children concerning legal and illegal substances. Officer Brown will give a quick lesson on what to look for and what to do if there is a suspected problem.

The second part of the program goes into detail concerning the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines. The dangers concerning meth labs and how that affects everyone, along with how to effectively work with local law enforcement.

The main goal of this program is to get back to the old hometown way of life, where the public can look out for one another and work hand in hand to fight back against the dangers facing the community today. We must open our eyes to the dangers all around us and focus on how to solve the problem. The public cannot stop all the illegal drugs from coming but can make the price way too high to take a chance on getting caught in Llano County.

There will be numerous visual aids, a Powerpoint presentation, as well as open discussion on thoughts and concerns facing the community.

Please come and join the program to learn how the public and L.A.D.I. can and will make a difference in Llano - moving out of the problem and into the solution.
