LISD Superintendent, Dennis Hill, has received the honor of being named as one of the top five Texas Superintendents of the Year.
This award is in recognition of his daily service to the district. Hill can be seen every morning and afternoon directing traffic outside of the elementary building, keeping the traffic flowing and the children safe.
According to staff, there have been numerous occasions in which he has volunteered to work on the weekends with the maintenance crew in order to complete a job. His office door is always open because he believes it is important to be available for meetings before, during and after school.
Hill’s personal notes to staff members and teams are always appreciated. The close connection he has maintained with each campus is evident as he walks down the halls, into the classrooms, and through the offices.
Maintaining a family-like atmosphere among district employees is one of Hill’s major priorities as superintendent. When a position is open within the district, Hill requires a committee be created for the hiring process so that a collaborative decision may be reached. He also begins the budget process each year at the staff level, so that those who use the money can express their needs.
The district survived the financial crisis of the past and has improved with the aligned curriculum by following the quality leadership of Hill.
