Carl R. Lewis, Sr., 81, passed away on Sept. 24. He was born on Jan. 18, 1927, in Wilson, N.C. to G.W. and Lillie Mae (Dale) Lewis.

Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, G.W. Lewis, and Lillie Mae Lewis McDermid; his stepfather, Cameron McDermid; his four brothers, G.W. Lewis, Jr., Harry J. Lewis, Douglas Lee Lewis, and Sydney Eric Lewis; and his sister, Nelle Belle Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jane A. Lewis, of Kingsland; his daughter, Janie Smith and husband, Joe R. Smith, of Granite Shoals; his son, Carl R. Lewis, Jr. and wife, Carole, of Kingsland; his grandchildren, Joelle, Kadon, and Trenton; his great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Levi, and J.T.; his sisters, Ann Swansey, Theresa Stanfield, and Jeanette Dickey.

Mr. Lewis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He loved to fish and watch baseball on T.V. He will be remembered for his love for his family, daily devotions, funny ways, being a perfectionist and “fix it” person. His dogs were always spoiled and had the very best care, especially “Sweetie.” He loved children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.

Memorial services were held on Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. at the Kingsland First Baptist Church in Kingsland. You can sign the register book and view the video online at www.putnamfunerals.com.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group.
