Pumpkins, autumn leaves, corn stalks, crisp cool air, the smell of a wood burning fire – well, maybe not here, means it is time to decorate for the season. The Promotion Committee of Main Street is again sponsoring “Fall Pride in Decorating.”

Pumpkins are available at the grocery stores, “Growing Crazy,” Rode’s Feed for hay, other places in the area, corn stalks, and tall grasses are still around. There should be plenty of material for decoration even though we have had a dry year.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m, Glenda Brumley and her helpers on the Heritage Day Committee will be decorating for fall on the courthouse lawn.

Garden type scarecrows are encouraged, as each year there have been so many clever scenes in front of each store that are actually prototypes of their businesses.

There are plenty of fall activities starting with the Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-off Oct. 17 and 18, and the Heritage Festival on Oct. 18.

We are having great response with vendors so far. There will have a Pumpkin Carving Contest Oct. 25 and the Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary will have their Haunted House at the jail this year Thursday and Friday, Oct. 31 and 31.

This is not a contest, but hopefully everyone will get into the fun and start decorating.
