Jesse Thomas Blackwell “J.T.” 92 years of age died on December 18 at Northwood Healthcare Center in Marble Falls, Texas following a lenghty illness.

J.T. was born February 5, 1916 to Joseph Vernon and Mary Katherine Tate Blackwell in Lockhart.

He was married to Joy B. Brown and they had just recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

They lived in various Texas towns lastly in Houston and Midland. They moved to Buchanan Dam in 1974.

J.T. was active in the Lake Buchanan bass busters, assisted in securing fire trucks for Buchanan Dam and Tow, assisted in the building of the Red Barn, and was a long time bingo caller.

J.T. is survived by his wife, Joy Brown Blackwell of Buchanan Dam, his daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Richard Gilbert of Buchanan Dam, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law: William and Joyce Blackwell and his sister and brother-in-law: Ada and Earl Gee.

Several nieces and nephews also survive. J.T. was preceded in death by his son Jesse T. Blackwell in 1998.

The funeral was held on Dec. 23 at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
