Four LHS students in rollover accident

One Llano High School student was killed and one remains in critical condition following a single-car rollover accident on SH 71 July 8. Justin Logan, 17, injured in the accident that claimed the life of Kassie Mae Zavadil Turner, 16, remains in stable but critical condition at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. Less seriously injured in the crash was the driver of the vehicle, Corey Allen Wunderlich, 17, who was treated at Brackenridge after being air lifted from the scene, and Terry Inman, 16, treated at Llano Memorial Hospital. Logan was ejected from the vehicle and sustained injuries to the right side of his body, most seriously to his head, but including non-threatening fractures and hundreds of ant stings, according to his grandmother Jeanette McPherson. “Justin is young and strong and we have hope and faith he will recover fully,” she said, describing encouraging signs of movement and squeezing a hand as her grandson depends on a ventilator and feeding tube. McPherson said she imagines missing this first week of football camp, as a senior at Llano High, will be Logan’s biggest concern when he wakes up. “One of his coaches visited him yesterday,” said McPherson.

New LHS Principal Dan Vera says one of the most exciting changes is a "straight-eight" day.
