In what appears to be a very positive development for the City of Llano, FEMA engineers have re-drawn the updated floodplain map using the estimated flow of the 1935 flood as its benchmark for a “100-year flood.” Due to advanced digital mapping techniques, there will be some changes from the old map, but most elevations will be within one foot of the old map, and the floodplain within city limits is only slightly larger than before. The changes came after Mayor Mike Reagor ...

It won’t be considered the greatest game the Llano girls have played this year, but it was a key win on the road, and it all but clinched a playoff berth for the 11th consecutive season. Call it workmanlike, one of the new clichés of recent sports pages: 51-39 over Vandegrift.
The start was terrible, but there was a window when the sun came through, or maybe the moon, and Llano made a remarkable comeback. Llano was outscored 15-5 in the third stanza against Burnet, January 26, and dropped a 47-38 decision.
It took 17 games, three quarters, seven minutes and 20 seconds—and close to two years—for the Llano basketball Yellow Jackets to realize they were writing the final chapter on one of the most painful district-losing streaks in school history, but an 11-2 run in the last period got the job done for a 41-37 victory at Vandegrift.
