“The system is changing very rapidly,” said Ervin Knezek, Director of Academic Services, Educational Service Center (ESC) Region 13. “And every year, the tests will be getting harder and harder. A rigorous, relevant curriculum is an important factor in making sure our students succeed.”
That may have been the main point in a special “board training” meeting Monday night; a meeting which was also attended by a group of concerned parents, teachers and ...

Llano will hold its annual Crawfish Open this weekend at the Llano River Golf Course and neighboring Robinson Park. From its relatively humble beginnings in 1989, the Crawfish Open has grown into a huge, exuberant party, with thousands celebrating spring on the banks of the beautiful Llano River. This year’s Crawfish Open will begin with a golf tournament Friday morning, and will continue on Saturday with a motorcycle fun r ...

To say it was a unique night would be like saying UConn didn’t shoot so well in the first half of the National Championship game; that Butler is smaller than Ohio State; that it’s still early in the baseball season (except for the Nationals); that the press in Augusta will pass on hearing from Jesse James.
Llano walloped Vandegrift, 11-1, April 6, and the highlights included: three home runs, two on back-to-back pitches; 11 strikeouts from Estevan Aviles; five on-target th ...

Remember Raven, Ramos, Redden, Redden
Liberty Hill batters were indeed seeing red, April 9, but they weren’t seeing Redden well enough. That would be Dallas Redden who struck out 13 Panthers, and Llano totally dismantled this long-time difficult rival, 11-3.
“I was using my fast ball and curve,” Dallas said, “and it was easy when you keep them off balance.” Thank goodness there were no high-wire performances, because there was no balancing act, that’s for certain.

Lady Jacket bats continued getting their workouts against district pitching, and on April 6, the aerobic artistry axed Vandegrift 10-0. That gave Llano 30 runs in its last 10 innings.

This was the finale before the “postseason” begins—district, region, and state.
Marcos, the sophomore who has had his problems recently in the 3200-meter run—three consecutive losses—ha ...

Tennis Twosome on to Regionals
She’s one of the best basketball players the Llano girls have had, and it’s an impressive list; he played, too, but not very much; he’s from the Netherlands; her folks spent time in West Point, Mississippi, where the Dutch population is divided whether to root for Mississippi State or Ole Miss; she’s a fine tennis player; so is he, and they’re a good mix, a championship pairing, winners of the 8-3A district crown in mixed doubles.

Best Time has come for Relay Team
It almost didn’t seem like a track meet. It was like one youngster went to one house, another to the next-door neighbor, and they rounded up guys to run and jump and throw against each other. Not that this is done very often, but three-team meets aren’t the norm, either.
Here they were, though: Llano and Fredericksburg knocked on Marble Falls’ door and said, “We’re here to play a little track—in your yard, okay?” Okay.
Cara Mack opened ...

There’s a song that I hear every once in a while on the radio, called “I ain’t never had too much fun.” I can only conclude that the songwriter has never been in the magazine business. I think I have one of the best jobs ever invented, but sometimes I get so tired that I can’t keep track of where I’m supposed to be having fun next.
