After an inspection on April 28, 2010 indicated the sand and gravel mining at the Long Ranch along the Llano River was “out of compliance with the LCRA Highland Lakes Watershed Ordinance,” the Lower Colorado River Authority issued a stop work order requiring “an immediate cessation of all Quarry/Mine Activity at the site.”
On April 30, the stop work order was modified to allow sand processing and sales in a two acre area on the Long Ranch upland from the river ...

People who live or own property or businesses along the Highland Lakes may sign up for a free floodgate notification service from LCRA.
The service calls and/or e-mails residents and property owners about anticipated floodgate operations, which can cause higher, faster water flows along the Colorado River. The Floodgate Operations Notification Service (FONS) allows people to specify how they are notified: by e-mail, land line and/or cell phone.

Tell me, when was the last time you saw a pitcher strike out the side three innings in a row? Not too many hands are going up—there may be one in Tow, but he could be pointing to the Big Dipper.
Estevan Aviles did it against Liberty Hill, fanned a dozen in all (in five innings), and Llano punished the Panthers (again), 10-0.

It always comes down to the playoffs, the postseason; it’s the most exciting segment of the long campaign. All the entrants have proven themselves, and the top prizes are still to be handed out.
Llano, after spending 2009 on the sidelines, is on the guest list this month and will meet China Spring, May 6-7-8, at Harker Heights High School in the bidistrict round of the Class 3A baseball tournament.

LUBBOCK—Three seniors were in the arena during the sunset of their high school careers. The competitions were dwindling—in fact, this was it, unless they surpassed, in their events, all but one of some of the most talented athletes in the state. Making it to state was the goal, the prize untold thousands have sought in the hundred years the UIL claims to have been in existence.
Cara Mack may have outdone her two male colleagues, and she wasn’t first ...

My husband, Teddy and I relocated here from Houston in January 2003 following our son Robby, his wife, April and our then, 15 month old granddaughter, Caroline. They opened the Llaneaux Seafood House in 2001 and without them, home in Houston, wasn’t quite the same.

Meet the Candidates...In Their Own Words
It has truly been an honor to represent the fine folks of Llano serving as Alderman and Mayor Pro-Tem these past 2 years.
Our great little town has had many accomplishments these past 2 years, large and small, with a modern day sewer plant, broadband finally reaching Llano with the city having 50% ownership.
Lowering utility deposits and returning the deposits to the citizens in these hard economic times, and a collection station running much more efficiently.
