The Llano County Commissioners Court held a marathon meeting which lasted most of the day on Monday, featuring long discussions of “post-employment benefits” and a proposal from the Texas Colorado River Floodplain Coalition to conduct a detailed engineering study for the Llano River (from the city west) and some of its tributaries. The city council held a special meeting last Wednesday evening to discuss a historic preservation ordinance and the possible purchase of remote-read water and electric meters for the city. City Manager Finley deGraffenried opened the meeting by pointing out that the city had been working on the historical preservation ordinance for a long time, that many people had looked it over, and that it had been submitted to an attorney to make sure everything was in order.
About 350 enthusiastic young people, including visitors from at least 16 churches around the state and a large contingent of local youth, tackled jobs ranging from yard work to painting to construction at job sites in and around Llano during the last several days. The grand finale will be a special Town Rally, scheduled for 7 p.m.
Members of Central Texas Electric Co-op in Board District Four (Llano County area) met on Monday night, June 14, in the Llano High School Auditorium. The members were welcomed by the co-op’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert A. Loth, III. Mr. Loth opened the meeting with the introduction of members of the co-op’s Board of Directors.

Attention, pet owners! Through no fault of my own, I find myself in charge of Llano’s first (I think) “Patriotic Pet Parade,” scheduled for 2 p.m. at Badu Park on Saturday, July 3. That’s right in the middle of Llano’s fabulous Rock’n Riverfest, so there will be plenty of other things going on, but I’m hoping that a lot of folks will get their pets dressed up in red, white and blue, and bring them to the shady spot in the middle of the park.

Janice Reynolds, age 59 of Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010. She was born on September 16, 1950 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Lela Pearl (Hamilton) and Elbert L. Mayfield. She married Roger Reynolds October 17, 1971 in Virginia. Roger and Janice moved to the area in 1995 coming from Kansas. She loved playing cards, puzzles and crossword puzzles.She was loved by everyone she met and will be missed by all her many friends and family. Survivors include her ...

The Llano Chamber of Commerce would like to remind you of their second quarterly luncheon of 2010 to be held at noon on June 23, 2010 at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Finley deGraffenried, Llano’s City Manager, will be speaking on “Llano’s Future is Your Business” and will give us and update on all the latest city developments including the status of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee.
A group of young detectives has been at work on a new case: students at Llano Jr. High School are hunting for clues that lead to high home utility bills and energy waste. Students in Shawna Tisdale’s and Fraser Smith’s sixth-grade science classes recently participated in the PowerHouse™ energy investigation program, which was sponsored locally by the City of Llano and Central Texas Electric Co-op (CTEC).
Llano Main Street invites you to have fun with Shrek this week-end at the LanTex. Times are Friday night June 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 19 at 4:30 p.m. and 7: 30 p.m. Pick up your $1.00 off coupons at all businesses and banks.
