Jim’s Jewelry was very much involved in community activities in 1970. Founder Jim Stumfoll had moved his business to this building (from around the corner on Ford Street) in 1962, and business was good. His son-in-law, Gary Gatliff, attended a school in Paris, Texas, to learn jewelry and watch repair in the mid-seventies, then moved to Llano and joined the business in 1978. He is one of the few trained jewelers in the Hill Country, and is qualified to work on Rolex and other fine watches, but says there’s not much market for fine watches any more, and parts are increasingly difficult to find.
