Sigma Alpha Lambda is proud to announce that Clarissa McDaniel, daughter of Clarence and Elaine McDaniel, of Llano has recently become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at the Texas A&M University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievment and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment.

All Texas Tech students, past and present, and their families are invited to a Student Send Off and Family Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. hosted by the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Tech Alumni Association. The picnic will be at the pavilion behind Hill Country State Bank, 1145 Junction Highway in Kerrville.

Amy Marie Edrington and Marcus Allen Cooper were united in marriage on Saturday, May 24. The wedding took place at the bride’s family ranch in Annona, with Judge Jimmy White officiating. Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edrington, of Annona. Marcus is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Ronnie and Maranda (Randi) Busby are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Rylee Kay, born June 19, at Irwan Army Community Hospital in Ft. Riley, Kan. Rylee weighed 6lb. 8oz. and was 21 inches long. Rylee was welcomed by grandparents Kay and Sid Schmidt and Terry and Connie Mikulenka, of Llano, Don and Ollie Busby, Kingland, aunts Melissa Langs of Ga., Sarah Wardlow, of San Marcus, and uncle Roper Mikulenka currently in Iraq.

Dr. Kris Kaspar, Llano High School Graduate of ‘98, is now an associate practitioner at Highland Lakes Veterinary Clinic PLLC, in Marble Falls. He enjoys both large and small animal medicine. After graduation from Texas A&M, Dr. Kaspar began practicing in Laramie, Wyo. During his time there, he gained a lot of valuable experience, serving many large horse and cattle ranches. At Alpine Animal Hospital, he was trained in the use of digital X-ray and in the latest equine dental, internal medicine, and small animal surgery. While he enjoyed his time in Wyoming, Kris is glad to be back in this area and looks forward to serving the people and animals of the Hill Country.

Les and Mary Turbiville, of Llano are pleased to announce the graduation of their granddaughter, Kristen Kay Payton from Abilene Christian University with a degree in interior design. Kristen hopes to settle in the Central Texas area and work with a local architect.

Floyd Lee and Charvena Brown, of Claude, are proud to announce the engagement and wedding of their daughter Karen Grace Brown to Blake A. Campbell. Blake is the son of Rhonda Kilburn and Ben A. Campbell, of Burnet and Llano (respectively). Karen is a graduate of West Texas A&M University and is currently completing her Masters of Arts Thesis at Baylor University.

Karen Maureen Collins and Leonard Lee Oliver, Jr., wish to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage. Karen is the daughter of Capt. John P. Collins, Jr. of the U.S. Navy, retired, and Mrs. Rosemary Collins, of Silver Spring, Md. She is the granddaughter of the late John P. and Marie Collins Sr., and Elizabeth Miedwig and the late John Miedwig.

Gwen Watson is a highly accomplished artist that won Best of Show and first in Oils in last year’s Spring Art Show. She also won second prize in Oils the year before. Her specialty is Western Art and her favorite teacher is Doug Prine out of Glen Rose. Ray McGuffin, out of Menard, is another favorite teacher.
