On Friday, March 30, Llano Elementary School recognized students for exhibiting self-reliance. The 5th grade Spotlight Team, composed of Seamus deGraffenried, Cheyenne Haynes, Gentry Jones, Kourtney McCollum, Roland Napolez, Rebekah Nelson, Reighgan Neudorf, and Cooper Owens performed a skit about self-esteem for the students and their guests. Cookies and juice were provided by the cafeteria staff.
The Llano FFA Livestock and Meats teams both won district titles on Saturday in College Station at the District and Area contest. In the Area contest, the livestock team finished 3rd while the meats team finished 4th. Both of these placings at area qualify these teams for the State contest the first week of May.
As part of our community emergency preparedness effort, the City of Llano is hosting a weather spotter SKYWARN training class on Monday, April 23, at 5:30 p.m. The class will be held free of charge and will last approximately 2 hours. Paul Yura, a representative of the National Weather Service, will conduct the class at City Hall, 301 W.

Robin Chiesa of Milagro Massage and Hills of Texas Taxidermy was once again crowned the Grand Champion Air Fiddler at the 2012 Llano Fiddle Fest "Air Fiddle Contest" held Friday night at the Badu Wine pub. The Highland Lakes BWI/DWI Task Force held its initial meeting of the 2012 boating season on April 5, 2012 at The Highlander in Burnet. To help minimize alcohol and drug related deaths, accidents and offenses on our roadways and lakes, last spring Captain Kevin Davis of Texas Parks and Wildlife and Sergeant Henry Minton with the Lower Colorado River Authority created the Task Force.
