Ladies at Fredericksburg
The Llano Lady Jackets didn’t overwhelm their talented opponents, March 6, at the Fredericksburg Relays, but they emerged from the Long Day’s Journey into Night with some prime prizes to help them through spring break. Cara Mack was the standard bearer in an outstanding field in the 3200-meter race in the morning.
The Llano baseball Yellow Jackets hit the ball well, got two superb pitching performances, and overcame one of their longest bus rides of the season to finish second in the Snyder tournament. The host school, Class 3A champions in 2008, was one of ten squads in the gathering in west Texas. We’ll get to all that after we tell you Bandera downed Llano 10-8, March 1.

The day began in chilly conditions with no sun in view. It ended the same way with darkness making sure there’d be no sunshine. Some nine hours passed, but no one passed Marcos Vallejo, who racked up his second straight double-gold performance. Only six players made the first squad, and five emerged from champion Liberty Hill and runner-up Burnet. “Matthew was a big part of our offense,” head coach Shannon Taylor said of ...
Ups and Downs follow each other through life, and right now they’re playing tag with the Llano softball team. There were a couple of wins in the Blanco tournament, soured a bit by the same number of losses. The record for the season is—what else—5-5. Blanco 3, Llano 2 It was a cold and dreary Friday, March 5, and this game ended in similar fashion, which was too bad, because the Lady Jackets owned a 2-0 lead after five and a half innings. ...

A pair of 14-run performances, 16 hits in four innings, a red-hot freshman and sophomore, a contest played in just-above freezing weather, six games on the road, and a bus ride before the dawn of the morning were all part of the Llano Lady Jackets’ 3-3 start in a nine-day span in February. Llano 14, Ingram 4 Katie Yeager, throwing the first of her final pitches in a Llano uniform, struck out five in six innings, February 19, and was supported by multi-hit games from every ...
This is the time of year when Major League pitchers begin the long season by preceding the rest of the lineup to spring training. Arizona, Florida, and California are comfortable venues, as the remainder of the country withstands another month of winter. The Llano baseball Jackets are part of that country, and they played five games in the final week of chilly-to-cold February and recorded three wins, a loss, and a tie.
The meet at Westwood High School in Austin on Saturday, February 27, 2010, gave the Llano High School students valuable practice for the District UIL Academic tournaments later this month With 45 schools in attendance, 50 to 100 students competed in every contest.
