How do Llano County voter preferences stack up against statewide sentiments? Overall, Llano County voters mostly agreed with voters in the state’s other 253 counties in selecting candidates in the March 2 Joint Primary election, with an occasional deviation from the statewide trend. In the Governor’s race, Llano County Republican voters liked incumbent Governor Rick Perry and challenger Debra Medina a smidge more than statewide voters did, and took less of a shine to Senat ...
The Golden Bear in Horseshoe Bay
He may not be winning any longer at Augusta or Pebble Beach or St. Andrews, but he’s designing courses in South Korea and Thailand, in Mexico and Moscow, and also a pretty fair layout in Horseshoe Bay: Summit Rock. Good name. Jack Nicklaus knows something about the summit in his sport, and he knows plenty about golf courses. “We’re seeing progress made,” Nicklaus told a crowd of media and other guests, March 5, at Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay.

Many more Llano residents waited at nearby Stonewalls Restaurant for the final results, escaping from the cold night air. Four Llano County races were contested in the Republican Primary.

Eight third-graders who attended Monday night’s city council meeting got a first-hand look at some of the uncomfortable decisions faced by local governments. When a local property owner requested a Specific Use Permit to place a new manufactured home on a lot zoned for single-family housing, several neighbors objected, arguing that the presence of a manufactured home would hurt property values in the neighborhood, where several existing homes have been recently renovated, and a couple ...
At the request of Llano County Judge Wayne Brascom, engineers contracted by FEMA issued a revised set of maps to be proposed for future floodplain determination in the western end of Llano County. The revised maps use the flood of 1935 as a basis for determining the floodplain. Llano County officials note there are some changes from the original set of maps introduced in 2009.
