The body of Kingsland Pharmacy owner Warren Dale Freeman was found Friday morning on his ranch in Blanco County. According to Blanco County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Terry Carter, Freeman, 53, had gone out to his ranch Thursday afternoon and was using a box blade on a tractor to build a stock tank.

A member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano drove her car through the doors of the church last Wednesday causing damage to the building’s sanctuary. Witnesses said Linda Tow, 66, drove her Chrysler Sebring up the walkway to the church and stopped at the doors. She got out of her car to open the doors before gunning the engine and driving up the center aisle.
By John Hallowell The Llano ISD board held its first meeting of the new school year on Monday night, and much of the evening was spent celebrating the district’s Exemplary status and detailing plans to solidify gains and make further improvements. Board President Ronnie Rudd opened a public hearing which preceded the meeting with comments on the school’s unchanged tax rate.
Sol’s MySpace page indicates he received a Bachelor’s degree in English at Schreiner University in 2007. He worked security at the La Hacienda Treatment Center in Hunt for about nine years until October 2009. Sol also worked as a substitute teacher for Ingram ISD from August 2007 until October of last year. Sol became a High School English teacher at Lexington last November, but his employment there ended at the end of the school year.

Retired Llano County Sheriff’s Deputy Melvin Allen Lawson has been arrested in the shooting death of a dog that wandered into his yard on August 2. According to Llano Police Chief James Schilling Lawson turned himself in to officials at the Llano County Jail Friday morning just after 10 am. He was charged with non-livestock animal cruelty, a state jail felony. Lawson, 65, posted a $1000 bond and was released the same day.
With the first day of school less than a week away, the Llano ISD held a combination "Welcome Back" ceremony (or "Welcome" for a couple of dozen new staff members), pep rally and celebration last Thursday at the high school auditorium. More than 300 ISD staff members listened and cheered as they were addressed by Board President Ronnie Rudd, Superintendent Dennis Hill, Assistant Superintendent Tim Glover and motivational speaker Jim Bob Solsbery.
