James Ernest Upton, known by most as “Ernest” or “Ernie”, passed away at age 82 after a long life enriching the lives of all those around him. He died on Oct. 5 2014 in San Antonio Texas from complications of lung cancer. Ernest was born on Nov. 9 1931 in Teague, Texas to James Byrd Upton and May Bell Cantrell Upton.

Rebecca Effie Moody, 83, of Highland Haven, Texas passed away on October 28, 2014. She was born to Jackson W. L. and Naomi (Caudill) Moody on August 19, 1925 in Neosho, Missouri. She was a member of the Highland Lakes Seventh Day Adventist Church of Granite Shoals, Texas. She loved to sew, cook, knit, tend to grandchildren and read her bible.

She married Edward Kaspar on October 9, 1946 in Oakville, Texas. They moved to the Highland Lakes in 1968 from Houston, Texas and she was the business manager for her husband’s construction business.

Morris Albert Upthagrove, 92, of Llano and Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away on November 8, 2014. He was born to Norton Albert and Nina (Lockhart) Upthagrove on February 9, 1922 in Torrington, Wyoming. Morris proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he was employed as an engineer, last employed with Boeing Aviation.

Bill Gene Carney, 84, of Llano, passed away on Tuesday, November4. He was born in Houston on September 6, 1930. Bill graduated from Saint Thomas High School, Houston, and attended the University of Houston, where he played baseball. He joined the U.S. Navy and played for the All Navy Baseball Team. Bill met and married his wife, Glenda, in San Diego while stationed there.

Wilbur Lloyd “Bill” Harlan, passed peacefully in his sleep on October 7, 2014, at 94 years old.  He was born in Houston on February 16, 1920 to Charles T. Harlan and Mary Elizabeth Brown Harlan.
