Johnnie Adelle Griffin Bray was born in Matador, Texas to L. M. Griffin and Margie "Pauline" Lee. She attended school in Matador, except her senior year (only went to 11 grades). J. D. and Johnnie eloped to Muleshoe, Texas, on March 15, 1942. She then graduated from Lubbock High School in May of 1942. She is survived by her husband, of 72-plus years, J.
